I love music just as much as the next guy but rarely do I see the point in paying $100 for a show to see someone live. Why am I buying $100 concert tickets? Well, they usually cost between $25-$35 for a ticket to a concert to see someone like Ben Folds or Death Cab and then you have $15 in service fees times two because you’ll have a date. For two people to attend a concert, it’s going to cost $100. Deal with it.
Ultra’s tickets start at $99 and max out at $250-$300 as tickets sell out. For 100 world class performers on at least 6 stages across three days, this is a phenomenal deal. In fact, there’s no other music festival in the world with this many performers on this many days in a city as beautiful as Miami especially if you sign up to the mailing list and buy pre-sale tickets. Tip: Buy the tickets at pre-sale price even if you’re only 5% sure you’ll be going. The tickets come in the mail without your name on them and, if you don’t go, throw them on Craigslist a week before the show and you’ll make a bit of money.
Moving on.
I’m excited that in just over a month, I’ll be in Miami for 5 days jamming to some amazing electronic artists with 75,000 of my closest friends. Ultra’s tickets are going to sell out (currently 95% sold out) in the next day and the Phase 3 line-up hasn’t even been announced yet. The videos that UMF is putting out to promote this year’s show are top notch. If you’re a fan of dance music, just watch these videos and you’ll kick yourself for not going.
If you are attending, where are you staying? What’s the artist you’re most excited about?
