Good evening. My name is Adam and I’m usually in bed around 9:30 PM, even on weekends and I listen to a wide range of music. I’ve never done drugs, don’t drink too much and rarely party anymore. I love house & techno music and am always on the look out for music that will excite me and bring me back to the club (figuratively of course). I’d love to be a club kid but I don’t fit in girl jeans and my legs are too big for high top converses and my beard simply doesn’t fit in among all of the glow-stick wearing kids with candy necklaces and ultra tight jeans….but I never miss UMF in Miami.
This all ages event opened me up to the world of dance music. I first attended as a high school senior in 2004 and haven’t missed a show since. This will be my 7th time flying, driving and hitchhiking to Miami for the chance to stand in a crowd of over 75,000 people and shake my head for 12 hours straight across three days. I wait all year for this one weekend and I hope you’ll attend. I encounter a lot of people who are on the fence about UMF / WMC in Miami but I can tell you that it’s completely worth it. Miami does a great job during WMC of making “normal people” who work hard and don’t have perfectly sculpted Jersey Shore bodies feel out of place. Miami is sort of like a mini Los Angeles but in a more concentrated way and I can’t stand it. UMF isn’t Miami or WMC. It’s an all ages event full of every kind of person. I’ve met LA kids, German 40 somethings, Alabama mechanics and even Canadian sled dog champions at Ultra. It just happens to take place in Miami…but this is the dance event of the year.
There are greater dance events in Europe but the plane ticket and dollar to euro exchange rate makes those festivals impossible to attend for most of the people I meet. Ultra Music Festival is under $300 for 3 days of the worlds best DJs in a town where your dollar doesn’t take a hit once you cross the city limits and hopping on a plane can be very affordable. Also, a quick check of Craigslist in Miami shows there are many people looking for room shares during the festival. Seriously, you CAN do this for cheap.
From the crowd, you can see amazing laser light shows bouncing off every Miami skyscraper and everyone at this event is dancing their asses off and feeling the love that is shared by the artists through electronic signals that fill our ear drums and warm our hearts.
Go to Ultra Music Festival. You will not regret it.
I’ll be there, dancing my ass off from noon until midnight for all three days. I’ll be drinking water & gatorade, I’ll be living it up, feeling the beats and having the time of my life. It’s an event that will change your life and you’ll have the time of your life.
