★ Celebrating 10K Photos on Flickr

My (recently repaired) Canon S95

I got my first camera in 2002 but didn’t quite practice or switch over to manual mode until late 2008 when my time in San Francisco became worth documenting for posterity and for the memories that were worth holding on to.

My first camera was a Kodak dx640 (pulling this from memory) and then I bought a Canon S3 IS in 2004 and continued upgrading until 2008 when I moved to San Francisco with an S5 IS. I sold that because we were flat broke and needed the money and transitioned to iPhone photography for the first part of 2009. Then, I acquired a Canon G9 with a hotshoe and full manual photography with RAW and I was all set to take the best photos ever.

Since then, I’ve owned a G10, G11 and G12 plus a Nikon D80 and brief stints with some Canon SLRs. Either way, I’ve lived in manual mode and only have to get the courage to move away from auto white-balance (one of these days). I’ve committed to finally switching to an SLR full-time in 2011.

It’s a huge deal that I now have 10,000 photos on Flickr. A lot of photogs dump entire sets on Flickr without titles or tags. My workflow is titles, descriptions, geo-tagging, tags, sets and even tagging people. The flow from shot to processing to Flickr to tweeting out the link takes hours but I’ve learned so much about photography and met amazing people through the photography community.

I hope in 2011 to be published more and share more of my images with the world outside of my small following online.

Thanks for viewing, clicking, favoriting and commenting on my photos. Gracias.

My photos have been viewed in total, 1,853,476 times. One day, I’ll hit 2 million. T’hat’ll be a huge accomplishment.

Here’s my favorite photo taken in 2010:

The Golden Gate Bridge - San Francisco

Of course, a lot of people tell me this one is way overprocessed. I think it’s awesomely beautiful. Full screen, the car details and view of Sutro Tower (which is the hill I used to live on) is a nice perspective of how much I loved SF, especially when it wasn’t foggy).

Runner up (far less processing):

Show me The Real You, City Center - Las Vegas

As always, thanks for your support and the time you take to stop by and read what I’m up to and browse through new photos.
