Once a year I do a deep cleaning of my stuff. I simplify things because it’s easy to collect stuff. Compared to most people I don’t have very much at all. I don’t own any furniture, a television or entertainment system, dishes and I don’t have any yearbooks, photo albums, CDs or DVDs. I don’t own a pillow or even a wrist watch. I like to minimize my losses as much as possible in the event of a fire, natural disaster or theft. What I do own is computer equipment and things start to really get cluttered in that department too. To be clear, I live in a furnished apartment because it’s just easier that way. Regarding memories, everything is stored on my computer. I have all of my personal memories scanned and stored across multiple hard drives for redundancy and a single 1.5 terabyte hard drive is in a safe deposit box in the event that I have a complete loss of all of my computer equipment. It’s comforting to know that my entire life is sitting in a box and I back up everything sentimental to it once a month.
I like living my life with one computer, some speakers, hard drives and an external monitor and before moving to San Francisco, I had a garage sale and sold everything but my laptop and a hard drive and came to SF with 4 suitcases which was my clothes and some computer gear. It seems that in the past 9 months of living in San Francisco, stuff has started adding up again and it’s time to sell off the stuff that I just don’t need and streamline my computer equipment. I do this once a year for my own piece of mind but I also do this each year to ensure I get the most dollar for my equipment and it causes me to only spend a little bit of money to upgrade to the latest equipment.
With that said, I have some things on eBay that you might be interested in. One of those items is my laptop, two Dell LCD monitors, three external hard drives, some speakers, an alarm clock, 4 bags, some software and other stuff that I just don’t need and you can get these for a bargain as I simplify my life into less devices, less consumption and less to carry in the event that I have to get out of town for any reason whether it be personal or related to a natural disaster. You can view the items by clicking the link below and let me know if you have any questions about these items. Thanks for looking and I hope these gadgets get a good home.
