This was an extremely long week. It's over, time to start the weekend!
This was an extremely long week. It's over, time to start the weekend!
Working on my first PowerPoint that is supposed to not be a PowerPoint. Not sure if that one makes sense? Good luck to me!
I wish there was a self-hosted RSS Server alternative to Fever.
A little quiet here. Been sick the past few days. Huge allergy issues.
Apple has now priced me out of being an iMac Customer. I need more power every day despite having their currently most powerful iMac, they've finally risen to the occasion to meet my needs. The iMac Pro starts at $4999, more than I take home in 3 months. Sigh.
Saturday, thought I was going to die up in the woods. It was intense. Glad I lived but wow. ran out of gas in a land area of 300 square mile with only 3 gas stations. Pittsburgh NH and all of the logging roads are just insane. can't wait to go back.
What a quick work week. It's Friday already!!!!
605 20 megapixel RAW Images + 200 gigabytes of 4K Video and 10,000 Time Lapse images. This is what the 4Ghz Core i7 iMac was purchased for. It is a freaking workhorse. Utilizing 80% of the 32GB of RAM, 80% CPU load @ all 8 cores.
Back from Belgium. Very tired.
So much to do tonight.
In two days, I leave for Belgium.
It's Friday, Friday!
So pleased with a daydream that now living is no good
I took off my shoes and walked into the woods
I felt lost and found with every step I took
The basement is finally organized again. Time to go back to saving money so I can get the drywall done, painted, flooring down, ceiling finished and then we can move beer in.
The President and I will be in Belgium at the same time.
Photos were posted early this morning. Love the progress we made on the basement. Back at work today, meetings writing, research, emails. back down to 5 unread emails. the last few are going to take a lot of time. Hey, it's lunch time!
4 days later, the basement is framed and walls are up!
I have a few car mods still left to do. Sound Damping in the trunk is a big one. Oh and the turbo blanket. Then I have to do an air filter install video for the bike.
The weather is now better but now allergies are starting. WTF.
Did enough changes to the Golf R, I have 14 YouTube videos queued up! Should be enough to nearly break even on the actual parts..not immediately but throughout the year.
Still have one more part to do w/ video but it'll have to be next weekend.
I'm sick of winter already. snow falling, cold, rained every day for last 2 weeks. WTF.
Weekend Update. Front brakes are done, Stainless Steel lines all around, Oil, Oil Filter, Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Cabin filter. Once a 14mm Triple Square comes in, I can do the rear brakes and then bleed and replace oil.
Tomorrow is Friday. ending the day with a beer and Twitch. going to be a busy weekend. New spark plugs and LEDs for heather's car arrived.
Rain forecast for this weekend :(
Huge amount of Golf R work this week. Excite!!!!
It's going to rain all week. Bummer. No solar, no outside work possible.
Good thing about being home on a weekday? No Harley Riders screaming down the road as these guys only ride on the weekends.
It's Monday. Had to stay home today with the dog due to scheduling problems. Good thing my iMac at home is 25% faster than my work laptop. It's a productive day already.
Excited to grab a keg of Helles today from HF after work.
Rough day today.
Back @ work!
All of the videos from the trips are edited!!!! It's 200 gigabytes of data I'm uploading to Youtube which will take about 2.5 days on my connection. Lot s of content!
Finished 9 out of 12 videos from the trip. Will have to publish one per day as no one wants to watch 4 hours of content in one day.
Not that anyone asked for 19 straight hours of a recorded version of my road trip, but I'm uploading it anyway. 120 Gigabytes, 19.5 hours. 5-7 hours are missing due to dead batteries. Need to buy a 2nd Tomtom bandit battery for next trip so I can keep swapping them.
Home. It's 35 and wet today. glad I'm not riding all day.
Sorry for lack of updates. been riding for 3 days. just made it to Roanoke.
Productive 3 hours waiting on the bike. Edited about 40 photos, put together 2 total videos and did a computer backup w/ duplication of all captured media so far. Oh and read the news.
More photos up. Editing videos while waiting for an $850 BMW Service on my bike. 18K miles, transmission fluid, brake fluid, new tires new crash bars.
Today, shave my head, Wash the bike, work out with dad, have dinner with he sisters and get ready for the road trip tomorrow.
Hello from Florida. Last night w/ dad and the boys was a blast. The bike is loaded up, I fixed a few of the issues but couldn't get the new crash bars installed. All loaded up and ready to go to BMW.
Hello from Boston Airport. Had a delicious smoothie. I hope the bike starts when I get to Florida.
Waking up at 4am to catch a flight down to Florida. Bike road trip 2017! It's time!!!!!!
11pm. Great evening of tasting beers with Chris. Got him to 120 hill farmstead beers.
Saw a new GS Adventure ride past my house early. soon brother. soon.
Now that CA's drought is over, are people just going to go back to the way things were or will plans to avoid this never happening again take place? Desalinization initiatives, eliminating fresh-water flowing into the sea, switching to low-water gardens & lawns, pulling back on water sucking vegetables grown in the I-5 corridor, resolving all of the water-rights acts that farmers are grandfathered into? Is this still a priority for CA's government or is it "well, we have snow now so let's just go back to doing nothing"?
Spent most of the weekend cleaning house and watching movies. Cleaned the outside up a bit, finally finished all of the house laundry..like all of it. 6 days until the trip to Florida.
Walt Mossberg is retiring. Thanks for all of the great content over the years and thanks for not suing me that one time.
Ordered some Route 11 Chips. Had those on my last road trip. Heavenly.
Ordered the Panasonic LX-10K for the road trip. Needed a 4K pocket camera that isn't a phone or GoPro. Hoping it meets my needs.
2 weeks until I leave Florida and drive north.
Pretty happy that April 1st fell on a weekend. I didn't have to deal with all of the stupid pranks & fake posts online. I did avoid YouTube on 4/1. just idiocy all around.
Also, Gmail is doing a poor job on spam filtering. My personal IMAP server I rarely see these things. Then again, I have spam set so high my Mom has to call me "I emailed you did you get it?"
Spammers have begun putting emojis in email I guess to appeal to literally everyone on the Internet these days. Little do they know I don't know a single person that uses emoji so when I see one in the preview, I know it's spam http:/
what need doing??
I owe my contractor $13,800 over our total initial budget for the house. Actually, $22,800 if you count the bank contingency built into the loan. Sigh. Going to be a very chill and quiet summer for me.
In other news, solar production was awful this weekend. Ran the dryer a lot getting caught up on 6 months of dirty clothes, bedding, towels, etc...and the panels were covered in snow so I lost a lot of ground on production we built up over the last week. :(
Great weekend with friends. Beers, homemade pizza. just awesome. Managed to get everything up on Flickr before work. https:/
"TRY GETTING A RESERVATION AT DORSIA NOW, YOU FUCKING STUPID BASTARD! YOU, FUCKING BASTARD!"
Booked my flight to Florida next month!
Dryers use a lot of electricity. 5K watts for 40 minutes.
In other news, it's snowing again.
I have a kitchen window! and a dryer vent. Home doing the first load of laundry in literally 6 months.
My dryer vent is being installed. Can finally wash clothes tonight.
First full week @ the house. it's been nice to finally enter a routine. I'd like to start getting up earlier. Coffee is tasting great, and booked my flight to Florida next month.
It's only Tuesday?
A great weekend of solar production. Got a lot of house work done. Took another truck load of recycling (boxes), solar working, made pizza & cookies. Watched a movie. it was great to settle in. Just a few more things to do before it feels like a home.
Oh yeah. solar is on. producing more than I'm using. perfect.
I can view all energy consumption & production in my house from anywhere. The future!
Plumbers are on-site. Yay. In other news, awesome drive to work today. I love snow days.
Heather took her first bath @ the house. The basement started flooding.....10 grand for plumbing a 1 bedroom house and we get this shit.
First work from home day at the house. Lots of snow and the iMac is now setup so it's like the old days where my @home office is way better than my real one. Better coffee, too.
This house is starting to look like a home. Just started the last load of dishwasher stuff from the last house. aka mouse haven.
totally not online a lot this weekend. 3rd day of unpacking. finally getting close.
Hello from my new house! Got a lot done today but far less than I had hoped. Finally siting down with some bourbon and watching some YT videos on the TV. There's a TON of work to do tomorrow but I think by tomorrow night, we'll be ready to host our guests. I still have dozens of homeKit devices to setup and boxes to break down and kitchen work to complete. oh and the floor needs a hearty mopping. It's filthy!
Contractor, "Your all set to move in, congratulations."
1 hour until the town inspectors certify my house as occupiable and we have plumbers on-site and a gas leak. ....
So far, a very productive day!
Internet is up at the house, weather station is up and running so I'm now uploading data to Weather Underground! migrating all data from my dS214Play Synology to the DS1815+
Might be living in the house in 1 week.
Of my 142 AIM friends, 9 were still online. Old school man.
AIM is shutting down their Oscar protocol. Loading up Trillian and signing in one last time to grab my old buddy list an any chat-logs from back in the day.
Been eating nuts and chicken all week. my body hurts. trying to fit into my motorcycle suit next month.
60% of electrical is done. I did a really great job sanding down the butcher's block. will have to post a video of the completed product. started with 60 then 150 then 220 grit and softened the edges.
The electricians are on-site 2 days earlier than planned. Let's hope this is consistent with plumbers as well and they arrive next Tuesday instead of Thursday.
My contractor is seriously affecting my life today more than ever.
When coffee first comes out of the drip, you should wait for the run to finish because the first 1/8 of the batch is much stronger and slowly dilutes as more water is added. This guy skipped the line (me) and pulled from the first 10 seconds of the batch. Batch RUINED.
Tried on my motorcycle pants. They're unusually tight. Time to diet so I can ride home from Florida in a month.
Another day of house work. Finally sitting down to rest. Unloaded the rest of my stuff in the house and heather painted doors while I organized and did more drywall.
4.5 hours cleaning the house, installing appliances, breaking down cardboard, filling up 3 trash bags, painting foam board with fire-proof paint. Exhausted. time for dinner.
Big weekend! Tonight, moving appliances in place (Fridge, 350lbs, Range, 225) and then painting trim, doors, walls tonight. Tomorrow, moving more things on-site and hopefully we move in next weekend!
