Once was my mistake and the other two times were completely the fault of the fuel-sensor. I now use a trip-counter on the on-board computer but even then, the range can fluctuate by 75 miles which would be unacceptable on most bikes. I\u2019ve been bone dry at 350 miles even though the previous week I got 440 miles. The issue is the engine sucks up a ton of gasoline at highway speeds but the fuel gauge and range don\u2019t reflect this accurately.<\/p>\n<p>My solution, a 2-gallon fuel tank which will get me 50-80 miles of additional range. It\u2019s good to point out my bike is fuel-injected so I don\u2019t have a reserve tank like carbed bikes.<\/p>\n<p>There are a lot of ways to add additional fuel. One promising one was a company that makes a small tank that goes underneath the seat opposite the exhaust that feeds fuel directly into the tank but it\u2019s not available for my bike\u2019s model year. There are also these 32 ounce bright red canisters but they would take up valuable luggage space and I\u2019d need a few of them to get me to the nearest fuel station.<\/p>\n<p>Best Rest Products is a small independent shop out of Washington with a lot of accessories for adventure bikes. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestrestproducts.com\/p-180-peg-packer-2-gallon-unit.aspx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Their Peg Packer comes in 1 and 2 gallon sizes<\/a>. The install was dead-simple.
