\"RoadTrip<\/a><\/p>\n

Starting on Tuesday, April 12th through Sunday the 17th, I\u2019ll be in a car for 35 hours just getting to and from the famed Tail of The Dragon. It\u2019s going to be a lot of driving. In fact, the drive down I\u2019m doing over the course of 3 days where the drive back will all be done in one day.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not too worried about the drive down to North Carolina. Day one is from here to Williamsport PA and day two will be to Asheville NC. Day 3 is a relatively comfortable hike (90 minutes) from Asheville to the hotel in the mountains I\u2019m staying. The main issue will be Sunday. I\u2019ll be driving 17 hours home and I think that\u2019s going to be outside of my comfort area. I\u2019ve sort of done it once before from Chicago to home with a short break in Eerie and a 60 minute nap at the MA\/NY border. My co-pilot Chris drove a bit but I did the bulk of the driving and was awake the whole time outside of that nap.<\/p>\n

That was with another person though. Solo is an entirely different beast. Not enough metal music or books on tape can keep me responsible..or at least that\u2019s what I expect. We\u2019ll see how I feel and maybe I grab 2 hours of shut eye somewhere around the NY\/MA border again.<\/p>\n

As for the trip, I\u2019m really excited. I\u2019ll be heading down to Wookies in the Woods. It\u2019s a once-a-year Golf R\/R32 event for owners. Volkswagen and a few dozen companies sponsor the shindig and we all spend our days enjoying the mountains and eating BBQ and enjoying some beers at night.<\/p>\n

This will also be the first road-trip in my Golf R and while it is a daily-driver, I try my best to keep miles off it because I want the car to hold some of its value over time.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s my first solo trip in a long time. I\u2019ll take plenty of photos & video and maybe have some good content for you all over the next few weeks.
