I\u2019m selling a drone on craigslist. It was $1500 new and I\u2019m asking $700 for it. Here are some of the emails I\u2019ve received from potential buyers (aka cheep non-serious people)<\/p>\n

\nJames Klimavich,\u00a0\u201cWould you take payments of 600.00 a month I have the first payment now”<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0another:<\/p>\n

\n\u201cyou can buy it new for 1250 with two batteries just letting you know . You\u2019re charging too much. I<\/em>\u2019m not interested.\u201c<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thanks for writing I guess?<\/p>\n

\n“I have 800\u201d<\/em><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Yes, that\u2019s the entire message.\u00a0<\/span>I responded with \u201c800 what?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“Willing to trade for this quadcopter?<\/em><\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I responded \u201cNo.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking of trades, here\u2019s another one from last month from Robert Cushing who I presume lives in New Hampshire. Craigslist has a barter section for people who want to barter and trade things. I posted in the For Sale section. They write:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“You interested in trades or just cash<\/em><\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I respond with:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“The ad says $700. If I were interested in trades, I would have explicitly said that.\u00a0I don\u2019t get why craigslist people are so difficult to work with. I\u2019ve been offered 5 trades today. it doesn\u2019t make any sense. and if I say \u201cNO TRADES\u201d in all caps people go, \u201cjeez man, I get it. sorry. why are you so agro?\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Robert says:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“Maybe cause u sound like an a** hole I asked because ppl are looking for things u can\u2019t really post on cl like guns but I got it simple sorry dude just looking for cash an it would of been less txt then u had sent\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

This gem popped up last week:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“Did you get my email that I sent you early this morning, I think I sent it through Craigslist, I would be happy to meet with you to see it first,..what is your phone # to call you and final price for it,..email me at,. EMMAWOTH@gmail.com .are you willing to come down a little on the price? I\u2019m sorry I didn’t get back to you right away…”<\/span><\/em><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Their response was that they were in New Zealand and wanted to send me a Western union Wire Transfer. Sigh.<\/span><\/p>\n

This was today\u2019s kicker.\u00a0Terc Lima\u00a0who I also presume lives in New Hampshire emails me:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u201c500 cash”<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Note that their email to me has a subject line that includes the price \u201c – $700\u201d so I respond a little aggressively but honestly, this has been going on forever.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n“but the listing says $700. Can you not read?<\/em><\/span><\/span>\u201d<\/em><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They took the time to respond from their smartphone (which was a lot of typing)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u201cInstead of giving such a stupid f**ing remark, just say no. It was just an offer and I’d be willing to pay more for it or even the 700 if your firm on it. Now you could stick it up your a**. If you have ever said a stupid remark like that in front of me, I\u2019d f***ing loosen your teeth. “<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thanks Terc Lima. You\u2019re really bringing us up as a species. I\u2019m sorry for asking if you couldn\u2019t read but you have to understand that my drone that has had about 5 minutes of flying time and was $1500 new and I\u2019ve bought an extra $150 in equipment (landing gear, extra propellors) is being sold for under half of what I paid for and over the last 6 weeks, people have tried to trade me scooters, guns, other drones, low-ball and scam me. You\u2019re just another long line of people who really make my email Inbox dumber.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I also love this little gem that I remember from working retail. If you don\u2019t cater to someone\u2019s demand for returning something they bought and used for a full 12 months that they don\u2019t want anymore, they respond with, \u201cI was going to buy $5,000 worth of things here today but because you didn\u2019t help me. I\u2019ll take my wad of cash elsewhere\u201d. Terc informing me that he would have paid $700 but because I asked him if he couldn\u2019t read, he\u2019d rather assault me by \u2018losing\u2019 all of my teeth.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Terc Lima, if you Google search your fake name and find this, please meet me to commit assault so I can press-charges. It\u2019s a shame New Hampshire doesn\u2019t have an Internet threats law on the books yet or I\u2019d report you. I live in Enfield, NH. This might even be the same guy who owns T&D Remodeling<\/a>. Good to know.<\/span><\/span>
