Back in June, Parth Dhebar and I received a tip from an Apple enthusiast who decided to explore what occurred behind the scenes when you used iCloud. Setting up a test environment using the popular web traffic monitoring utility Charles, our tipster quickly discovered that iMessage utilized Azure and Amazon AWS when he sent images over the service.

In the tip, we were sent various screenshots of his findings, which detailed exactly what was happening in the steps of the web transaction. Parth wrote a post about it and it was covered throughout the blogosphere.

However, our hard facts were evidently not convincing enough for one GigaOM writer. In pursuit of the truth, she decided to run our screenshots by “three networking and cloud experts at major companies”, all of whom claimed that the proof was inconclusive.

What? So some industry “experts” hiding behind the veil of anonymity should be trusted over facts?

There’s more and you can click through to read on. I still think that every blogger who reports news should attend Journalism school. I know J-School is the butt of all jokes in the blogging world but it’s true. I provide opinions often after something has happened and many more writers I know and respect do a great job at analyzing events.

Those that report news are doing a shitty job of it. The J-School graduates work at firms that are too slow at reporting the news and there’s always some higher corporate power that keeps a lot of news from getting to us due to political agendas and conflicts. Then there’s the blogger who lazily throws things up on their blog because they find it interesting. Both parties are doing this wrong. That’s why I don’t read the news. I read The New Yorker once a week and glance at RSS feeds once a day. I also Instapaper things that I think are news but may not be in 3-5 days. I wait 5 days and see if I’m still interested in reading it or I’ll read it if people are still talking about it.

The experts who just throw things out should be more careful and, most importantly, should learn how to use Google.

Paul Paliath: Back in June, Parth Dhebar and I received a tip from an Apple enthusiast who decided to…

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
"_jetpack_featured_image_duplicate_dismissed":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[7

post-3098","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-linked","cs-entry","cs-video-wrap
via Uncrunched: When I’m in San Francisco I usually get coffee at Philz because it’s the closest thing to perfect coffee that I’ve ever had, and it’s near where I stay when I’m there.
