The agency now lists mobile phone use in the same &#8220;carcinogenic hazard&#8221; category as lead, engine exhaust and chloroform.<\/p>\n<p>Before its announcement Tuesday, WHO had assured consumers that no adverse health effects had been established.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/daringfireball.net\/linked\/2011\/05\/31\/who-cell-phones-cancer\">John Gruber<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think it\u2019s quite possible that this issue could be the single greatest long-term threat to Apple. I\u2019d hate to see today\u2019s handset makers turn into yesterday\u2019s tobacco companies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I just watched the clip on CNN where they review exactly what you should be doing which is to use a hands-free unit and not put the phone up to your head. The truth is, most iPhone and smartphone users don&#8217;t talk on the phone. This isn&#8217;t my guess based on the people I hang out with but most cars come with Bluetooth and most states require all cell phone conversations are hands free while operating a vehicle so we have to use headphones or bluetooth systems to talk and drive. Additionally, I don&#8217;t use my iPhone to talk on the phone anyway. I use my iPhone to send data and haven&#8217;t put it up to my head in a long time or no more than 30 minutes a month.<\/p>\n<p>I truly believe that we&#8217;re going to use the phone less and less so this is a non-issue as time goes on. There are people that use their phones a lot and this is a case for why we should still have land lines or a case where people are educated about Google Voice and how you can have a number that rings your iPhone and land line.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CNN: Radiation from cell phones can possibly cause cancer, according to the World Health Organization.
