That was three weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>I sat at a table in Amsterdam surrounded by 63 people in our unit who had all been at the company longer than me and most of these men &amp; women were much older than me. They were mature and eating the 1st course of onion soup the right way &#8211; with a spoon. The spoon was an\u00a0awkward\u00a0size or at least it was awkward for a bowl of this type. I was frustrated and as the conversations around me carried on, I just wanted to enjoy the soup! This spoon is just not doing the trick but we&#8217;re drinking wine, our napkins are on our laps and we have multiple choices when it comes to forks. GRRRRRR! This event is too fancy to be the slurper!<\/p>\n<p>It hit me:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Never be afraid to lift the bowl to your mouth and drink. The spoon is a detractor from the prize.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s what popped in my head and I wrote it down. You&#8217;re surrounded by people smarter than you. You&#8217;re out of your element (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MjYJ7zZ9BRw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Donny<\/a>). The soup is the goal. Living, learning, exploring and growing is the goal. Your future and what&#8217;s ahead is the soup and you&#8217;re using a damn awkward and small spoon to get to the soup just so everyone will accept you; just so everyone will not wonder, &#8220;what the hell is that guy doing?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>No.<\/p>\n<p>Pick up the bowl of life and slurp. Slurp the hell out of it. People will stare, some will laugh but who finishes his soup first? Who gets to the prize?<\/p>\n<p>You. Enjoy that soup because you deserved it.
